Next Co-Sponsored Fall Conference

Since 2012, CATA has been holding regional theology conferences (usually in the Fall) in conjunction with a theological college or seminary in Canada or the United States.

Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, NY will be hosting and co-sponsoring the Fall CATA Theology Conference.  The conference, to be held on October 18-19, will be on the theme of creation care and justice.  Dr. Sylvia Keesmaat will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Keesmaat is a New Testament scholar (DPhil, Oxford with N. T. Wright). She is also an activist and a permaculture farmer from the Toronto area who is currently working on a book on the groaning of creation, tentatively titled, A Fountain of Tears: Ecological Grief in the Biblical Story. This book will delve deeply into the stories of creational catastrophe in the biblical canon, with attention to the lament of the people, the creatures, and the Creator, alongside the possibility of new life.

The keynote speaker will give a public lecture on campus on Friday evening, followed by a conference lecture on Saturday.

More details, including a Call for Papers, to follow.
